Marseille cruised to victory over Bundesliga champions Borussia Dortmund with a comfortable 3-0. Many people had Dortmund down as the team to win Group F, however, they struggled to break down a resilient Marseille team desperate to forget about their much publicised Championat troubles. Andre Ayew scored the first with a neat finish from the edge of box, after Marseille swept up-field and made the most of a Subetic slip. After being put under increasing pressure by the German team in the second half, Remy scored Marseille’s second to help settle the nerves in the Velodrome. Ayew’s second goal came from the penalty spot and effectively killed off the game. Deschamps will be happy that Marseille managed to keep a clean sheet, which was helped by the superb performance by Mandanda. The win left Marseille top of group F after 2 games.
