Bordeaux v Marseille – 10/05/14 – Match Preview

Bordeaux v Marseille

Stade Chaban Belmas, Bordeaux

10/05/14 – 20:00 KO (UK) (Repeated on BTsports1 7:45 11/05)

Marseille face Bordeaux on Saturday evening, hoping they can still push for European qualification. Bordeaux, only one place below OM, are also expecting a new manager to be in charge next season.

Jose Anigo will look to break OM’s barren run in Bordeuax, trying to provide Marseille with their first win in 37 years in what is his penultimate game in charge of OM. An OM win coupled with a Lorient victory over Lyon would put OM in 5th place and in the driving seat for European football next season.  If Anigo is to help OM overcome their opposition he will have to do it without Lemina and Khalifa although Lucas Mendes has returned after suspension.

Bordeaux have relatively good home form, having only been beaten 5 times at home (two of these were by psg and Monaco), though it is worth noting that Marseille have the 4th best away record in the ligue having only lost 4 times on their travels.

After one of their best performances all season in last week’s 4-2 victory over Lyon, Marseille should bring a certain amount of confidence to their performance at the Stade Chaban Delmas, something that always seems to have deserted them in recent seasons.

Expected line-up and formation:

Dja Djedje  Nkoulou  Diawara  Morel

Romao  Cheyrou

Payet  Thauvin  Ayew

Francis Gillot is without Saivet, Bréchet, David Bellion and Jussiê for what will be the final home game of his tenure at Bordeaux. If the game is half as entertaining as last week’s game again Lyon and Bordeaux’s previous home game (5-1 against Guingamp), then we are all in for a treat.

Expected line-up and formation:

Mariano Henrique Sane Orban

Rolan Traore Sertic Maurice-Belay

Diabate Rolan

Allez l’OM!
