Marseille Victory Comes At A Price

 Marseille claimed an easy and routine win against Bourg to progress into the Quarter Finals of the French Cup, but the victory came at a price. Loic Remy injured himself during the game and he will now be out for about 3 weeks. OM surprisingly lined up at full strength here which in the end was to prove costly, it looked like a good opportunity to rest players, but Deschamps didn’t do this with the only man given a breather being Steve Mandanda. Marseille 2-2 Lyon – Olympico Match Report

Marseille blew a 2-0 lead at home to Lyon at Le Stade Velodrome and had to settle for a point on Sunday evening. All of the goals came in the first half and as an overall reflection of the game, neither team could have any complaints. OM can have regrets for not holding onto such a nice lead, whilst Lyon could’ve perhaps claimed all 3 points had they taken their chances. Coupe de la Ligue Semi-Final – Marseille 2-1 Nice – Match Report

Marseille claimed a laborious 2-1 victory against Nice to progress to their 3rd consecutive Coupe de la Ligue final. In a match which contained few chances, Brandao’s strike just after the interval proved to be decisive and Deschamps’ men managed to claim a battling success. Compared to the previous night’s semi-final between Lorient and Lyon, this was pretty forgettable but the most important thing for OM was that they made it through to the final. Continue reading

Marseille 2-0 Lille – Match Report

Lille’s long 17 match unbeaten ligue run was ended on Sunday night as they fell away at Le Stade Velodrome, Marseille beating them 2-0. Taking all things into account, it was a deserved win for OM and the victory now takes them right onto the coat-tails of the teams battling it out for the Champions League places.
